The Fourth Uganda Martyrs Day Celebrations in South Africa

Are you ready for Namugongo in Johannesburg?

It is our Fourth Year since we started and we have enticed many of our South African friends to visit Uganda and witness Uganda Martyrs Day Celebrations.

Every year, June 3rd, when most of the Martyrs were killed, is marked as a National Holiday in Uganda. It is also marked worldwide on the church calendar as a day to honor the Uganda Martyrs.

The Uganda Martyrs are a group of 23 Anglican and 22 Catholic converts to Christianity in the historical kingdom of Buganda, now part of Uganda, who were executed between 31 January 1885 and 27 January 1887.
