My ‘Role Model’ Husband! The agony of a Mother, Wife, and Friend.Chapter 8

The police talked to the doctors who confirmed that Bongz might have been pushed down after being beaten; they said that Bongz had a lot of bruises all over his body and neck.

The doctors suspected that Bongz was punched furiously and also someone tried to strangle him too. After hearing that information, the police asked Babz where Phindie, whom Bongz told his sister that he is going to walk with her home, stays.

That evening, the police knocked at Phindie’s house. Her father opened the door. The police explained their reasons for being there but Phindie’s father asked them to live.

Phindie’s father told the police that his daughter cannot speak to the police without a lawyer present. Since the police didn’t have any warrant to question her, they asked her father to drop her at the police station in the morning for questioning.

It appeared that Phindie’s family already knew something; that’s the reason why they insisted on having a lawyer present. Phindie called Mandla that evening and informed him about the police’s visit to her home.

Early in the morning, Phindie, her father, mother, and her lawyer went to the police station.

During the questioning, Phindie was told that Bongz told his sister that he will be spending that Friday afternoon with Phindie; that he also said that he will walk home with her.

Phindie denied it, she said that she and Bongz are not dating anymore, and there was no reason for him to meet with her. Phindie said she and Bongz broke up months back. She continued to say that she hasn’t spoken to Bongz for a while now; that she only sees him at school.

The police asked Phindie if she has an alibi for that Friday afternoon. She immediately said that after school on Friday, her mother picked her up from school. Phindie’s mother was around and she confirmed it.

The police told Phindie and her family to go back home but they promised to visit them again if they need more information from Phindie.

Phindie’s family was one of the closest family friends of the Khumalos. Babz was shocked to not seeing them visiting Bongz in the hospital or calling them to find out how Bongz was doing.

So many friends were checking up on Bongzi’s family and also visiting Bongz in the hospital; but shockingly, not Bongz’s so-called close friends. The only Bongz’s friend who visited him so far was Mandla and his mother, Amanda.

Themba came back on Sunday from his business trip; he had to cut it short because of Bongz’s accident, which some people call suicide while others call it a deliberate push from the rooftop.

Themba came straight to the hospital from the airport. Babz, Fezile, Amanda, and Mandla were seated in the hospital lounge talking about Bongz’s situation when they saw Themba coming in.

Babz ran towards her father, she hugged him while crying. Fezile also joined the hug and they created a big hug of three; mum, dad, and daughter. The three had a group hug while tears were rolling down their cheeks, they were sad about Bongz’s condition.

Fezile was crying hysterically while explaining to Themba what had happened to their son, Bongz. Afterward, Themba greeted Amanda and her son Mandla and then proceeded to Bongz’s ward; he went with Fezile since they could only allow two people in Bongz’s room at a go.
