Depression

What is depression?

An illness that involves the body, mood, and thoughts and that affects the way a person eats, sleeps, feels about himself or herself, and thinks about things. Depression is not the same as a passing blue mood. It is not a sign of personal weakness or a condition that can be wished away. https://www.medicinenet.com/depression/definition.htm

In the past year; 2020 and this year 2021, so far; so many things have happened to a lot of people. The cause is this terrible disease; Covid-19/Corona Virus.

Many of us; are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually drained from all the trials and challenges we have faced in 2020 up to now.

We have lost family members due to covid-19

We have lost friends due to Covid-19

We have lost colleagues due to Covid-19

We have lost jobs due to Covid-19

Our businesses have closed off due to Covid-19

We witnessed ongoing lockdowns due to Covid-19

Many couples have divorced due to Covid-19

Some relationships collapsed due to Covid-19

Our children missed out on schooling due to Covid-19

Etc.

We are indeed traumatized. We are fragile and our tempers flare; our patience is in short supply; we are stressed, frustrated and depression is at play. We are burdened with so much and our spirits are broken.

This short story is triggered by a post by a friend of mine on Facebook wrote, “I might very soon be history”. This scared me because we really don’t know how our friend is; many tried to call but so far no one has the right answer about his whereabouts.

Many people today are suffering from stress, anxiety, and depression; they feel too much pain in their hearts. Many people need help; they need a helping hand, prayers, and some kind words.

“So it will be on that day, that his burden will be removed from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of fatness.” Isaiah 10:27.

This will come to pass; we will be anointed, depression will disappear and our burdens will be lightened.Keep the faith and pray to the Mighty power above us for healing; your depression will disappear and strength will come in. Don’t isolate yourself from people; talk to those around you, talk to someone you trust, and pray together. Let us all be our brothers and sisters’ keeper; let us keep a watchful eye on each other. Let us pray for one another and also talk to someone when we feel lost.

“That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.” —Elizabeth Wurtzel.
