I WANT MY BOY BACK HOME!

A 12-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted and taken to Uganda by his dad wants to come back home. However, his maternal gogo, Nelly Mthethwa (59) doesn’t have the money to buy him a plane ticket. Glen Mthethwa, from Thulamahashe near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, was allegedly abducted by his father Ishmael Namakhura in December 2012.

According to gogo Nelly, Glen visited his father, who was separated from his mother, in Joburg as he normally did during the school holidays. But he never returned. “Instead we got a call from his father, days later, to say he was on a plane with Glen and that they were going to Uganda,” said gogo Nelly. She said at first they didn’t believe the story. “We only took it seriously when he called back the next day and told us that he had taken Glen. “We begged him to send him back but he refused. I was so stressed by the news that I had a heart attack.”

Gogo Nelly claimed she had gone to see social workers and interpol police, as well as the offices of the minister of international relations, for help. She said on Saturday she received a call from the father to say Glen was missing. “Later, he called back and told us Glen had been found. He then asked us to send him R2 500 for Glen’s air ticket, which I don’t have. I’m not working.” Gogo Nelly is appealing to Good Samaritans to help her buy a plane ticket so Glen can come back home.

“I want my Glen back home, whether dead or alive,” said gogo Nelly. International Relations and Co-operation spokesman Nelson Kgwete said their office was not aware of the drama. “Our department has not received any report about the allegations.”
