AFRICA'S POTENTIAL FOR INFRASTRUCTUAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS TO BE AGREESIVELY PERSUED - H.E BARBARA

On the Invitation of the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa, H.E Barbara Nekesa Oundo participated in the 5th SACPCMP the South African Council for the Project & Construction Management Meeting held annually at the Birch wood Hotel Johannesburg.

In her presentation on the successes and the challenges of Investing in Africa she highlighted a number bottle necks such as Lack of Intergration among African countries which leads to Loss of Income, High costs of doing business , operational costs due to the fragmented information and communication networks, lack of private investments and conserted consolidated effort in the private sector to persue crossborder projects, Inadequate feasibility studies undertaken which are not in conformity with developing partners and donors, and complex historical dimensions of different African Countries which further complicates doing business in Africa.

Concluding her presentation to experts , policy makers and other digntaries Amb. Nekesa expressed optimism in the vast opportunities available for Investment. Highlighting the East African Community Region as a robust business hub specifically Uganda for undertaking profitable ventures in key sector areas of Energy, Oil & Gas exploration, Transportation in various forms of Railway, Water, Air, Tourism, Agriculture to mention but a few not forgetting cross boarder projects that will culminate in the overall Development of not only Uganda as a country but Africa as a continent.
